about
Working title 'dIM fIRE'. This song was a distinct attempt to embed meaning in a 'dancefloor' track. It's a representation of the duality between the fear of the feeling distanced from the internal fire that keeps me warm to the core, and the need to persist through, rise above and to learn from it.
It was also a part of a few experiments with time signatures. I was deliberately trying to break out of confines that had dimmed my passion for production and slowed my creative output at the time. The song is in 6/8, and the idea was to pick a 'weird' time signature but focus on groove and melody. It also changes BPM (which was new for me) to further the emotive impact and add narrative. It started with "hey, why don't I try to make a 6/8 dub tune" and ended up like this.
A glorious collection of UK hip-hop, techno, bass and more to honor those who lost their lives in the Grenfell Tower fire. Bandcamp New & Notable Aug 31, 2017
